Happy Birthday Mom!!!  So it has been a really long start to the week so far and it only gets worse.  Monday wasn’t horrible but it was still a long day.  We went out early for our fledge check and then went to our weekly meeting with the Crowell guys.  After that we went and met some loggers and showed them the boundaries to the protected foraging habitat for the RCW’s.  It was awesome watching the equipment.  The machinery cutting the trees was on the other side of some pine regen growth so it was crazy to watch.  It looked like the trees had come alive.  The machine grabs them at the base and then cuts them and once it has been cut, it can move the tree where ever it wants.  All I could see was the tops of trees moving on the other side of the regen area.  It was just like the Ents in Lord of the Rings.  If only Tolkien could have seen this.

We also saw a huge rat snake today.  It was about 6’ long and had some girth to it.  We watched it for a while then continued on our way.  It’s funny how we will mess with a coral snake but leave a rat snake alone.

To date I have only have one person send a response to the sit and observe thing I asked people to do.  She didn’t publicize it but I’m glad someone feels similar to the way I feel.  It got me thinking about how awesome God is.  I said I have been reading some in an evolution book.  I’m hoping to look at the issue from the two sides and see how they compare.  I already know what I believe and it is different from both sides, we’ll get into that later, but I feel that being in the science field and already having extensive lectures on the subject, I should inform myself of the issue.  But going back to the response I got, it got me thinking.  If anyone ever has doubts about God and his existence, look outside and see what he has created.  The response said it made them said when people say that is was all just one coincidence and it does the same to me.  I can sit and look at the RCW’s and wonder what makes them like they are.  How did they come to be so different from a Hooded Warbler?  Why does a woodpecker feel the need to nest in cavities and have the ability to chip away bark and climb up the side of the tree?  And why does the warbler have that distinguishable call and the bright yellow colors with a black hood?  How could to things so similar evolve to be so different?  It just doesn’t make sense to me without a creator at heart.  So I thank-you for your response and encourage more to do the same.
